Eight miles northwest of Nevada City on Highway 49, the South Yuba River
State Park is a major State Park in the making. The park will stretch

than 20 miles along the South Yuba River canyon from Malakoff Diggins
State Historic Park to Bridgeport.

15: Nevada City Father's Day Bicycle Classic. In historic
downtown Nevada City. The Nevada City Classic is one of the premiere
sporting events in the Sierra foothills, the largest and oldest
bike race on the West Coast, and the second-oldest race in the
nation.
Historic Nevada City is draped with flags and bunting and provides
a colorful backdrop as cyclists whiz through the downtown area,
spokes flashing and crowds cheering. Several thousand spectators
attend the traditional Father’s Day event.

9 am to 3 pm Pioneer Park in Nevada City. No charge for spectators.

4: 4th of July Parade & Celebration. Parade down the
historic streets of downtown Nevada City, California. Celebration
afterwards at the Nevada County Fairgrounds with food, musical
entertainment and a fantastic fireworks display beginning at 9:30
p.m.
July 16, 23, & 30: Summer Nights 2008-Nevada City’s
Annual Celebration. During Summer Nights, Nevada City’s
landmark historic district is closed to motorized traffic and
filled with arts, crafts, classic cars, food, drink and music.
Leading Sierra foothills musicians perform on outdoor stages throughout
the downtown area. Hours are 6-9 p.m. There is no admission charge.
July 17 - 20: California WorldFest features eight stages of music
and dance from around the world, camping with family and friends,
workshops, international food, fine crafts, and the renowned children's
program...celebrate mid-summer with us under the cool, tall pines
of the Sierra foothills. 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Nevada County
Fairgrounds. $10.00 - $140.00.
July 18: The Children's Festival has a Medieval Renaissance
theme with jugglers, musicians, storytellers, magicians, crafts
& food. Children are encouraged to dress in costume. 9am to
noon & 5pm to 8pm. Pioneer Park, Nevada City.

27: The Nevada County Concert Band will present "The
Spirit of Champions" - the second of three concerts in its
Pioneer Park Picnic Pops Concert Series. Music references will
include Olympic Theme, Thunder (NASCAR theme ), The Great Race
March, Music from "The Incredibles," and much more.
Pioneer Park bandshell, Nevada City, CA. 5:00pm. Free. This is
a terrific family concert that will appeal to all ages.
